Where It Started
1937
1946
Fred S. Carbon attends the National Restaurant Show in Chicago, IL. Today, Golden Waffles is the second oldest exhibitor.
1970s
Carbon company decides to loan waffle irons to commercial accounts at no cost, providing they use only Carbon’s flour. This innovative marketing strategy is still used by Golden Waffles today.
1974
Carbon’s waffles are served in the White House and at events held by First Lady Betty Ford.
Early
1990s
Carbon Company gains contracts with several well-known national restaurant and hotel chains.
1998
The business is sold to five of Carbon’s largest distributors and becomes New Carbon Company.
1999
The company moves from Michigan to South Bend, IN.
2001
New Carbon Company creates its all-inclusive waffle program for hotels offering free continental breakfast.
2004
Carbon’s waffle mix and irons are featured on Emeril Live, The NBC Today Show and NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brian.
2009
Carbon continues to expand landing a national hotel chain.
2015
Carbon’s Golden Malted becomes Golden Malted and continues to expand portfolio of products and equipment.
2023
Golden Malted joins the Arbor Investments portfolio of brands.
2024
Golden Malted rebrands to Golden Waffles.
